Hello, welcome to NSUK again! I unfortunately am not well versed in British political violence as I am an American. I will occasionally randomly yell things WE'RE IN AMERICA, SPEAK ENGLISH, WE ONLY EAT HAMBURGERS HERE, or something of the sorts, cheerfully making fun of the less...intelligent of our citizens. Friendly reminder

I'm remaining officially neutral on the issue of regional members' intelligence until further notice :P That said, while you are here, I must ask - your name reminds me of J Dilla, one of my favorite producers. Is this a deliberate allusion?

No need for virtual car bombings, especially against future Monarchs... I guess the religious and cultural cleavage also help for this view. To my understanding, Ireland, Scotland and to a lesser extent Wales are more Celtic in culture, while England is more Germanic. And then there's the Catholic-Protestant divide, that is not as important as it once was (at least among Francophones in Canada it has lost all its importance) in Ireland. I was indeed referring to QS in the social part of the party. They have their strength in outer Montréal and some zones of the island, and they are not so pro-independence as the PQ. The cultures whose suppression was encouraged were overwhelmingly Celtic. Ireland of course has the religious divide, but I would say it played a small yet un-ignorable role in Scotland as well (seeing that the Jacobites, predominantly of Highland stock, were overwhelmingly Catholic.) Not sure how much religion plays a role in Welsh nationalism - the high percentage of Protestant nonconformists makes me curious about that. And yeah, Québec is culturally Catholic but not necessarily religiously Catholic, not since the Quiet Revolution. The riding right next to mine, Sainte-Marie--Saint-Jacques, is the home riding of the QS leader - meanwhile mine is hardline Liberal. It really shows the difference in politics on either side of Saint-Laurent Boulevard. Indeed. You got it better than I could explain myself. I am not sure either of what's Plaid's base, if it has to do with religion or is more of a left wing nationalism in the sense of the SNP or the PQ. My riding, and my province in general, are among the most boring ones electorally. My riding is Andrew Scheer's one, probably in the top 10 safest tory ridings in Canada. Last time I voted NDP just to see if the election was competitive, but not even this time (like a forty point difference). Curiously, if I walk south less than 20 minutes, I arrive to Saskatchewan's Liberal stronghold -although rn the seat is held by the Tories as all seats in my province. On provincial politics, we have an election on the 26th. We all know already that the Sask Party will win. The question is by how much.

Not sure about Plaid's base either - I'm less well-versed in Welsh politics than that of the other countries. I wrote a paper on their language revival efforts, however, and what they could learn from the Hebrew revival; that's the most I know about Wales, I'd say. My federal and provincial ridings are both rather safe Liberal seats, much to my chagrin. I'd probably have more chagrin if I were in a non-competitive Tory riding, however (competitive Tory ridings could be different since especially out west the pendulum can swing to NDP instead, which I prefer.)
