Hello everyone! Just thought I would drop in and give a few words of introduction.
In NS, I am returning after a long absence, so long that I can’t even remember my former nation or region (I tried - searched through email, various logins, and no dice. Ah well). That said, I am happy to be back and in a wonderful and active region such as the U.K. I look forward to diving into life here in the U.K. as I familiarize myself with the board and all the various goings-on.
In RL, I hail from the Sierra Nevada mountains of California. Having served as an educator for many years, I now work outside the classroom with degrees in literature, philosophy, and theology. In my off time, I can usually be found next to a lake reading a good book or next to a lake fishing or next to a lake drawing or next to a lake just staring off into space.
I figure I will be on for an hour or two each day, towards the end of the day Pacific Time and I’ll be on Discord, too. Looking forward to getting to know you all and the region. If there is anything I can do, please feel free to reach out and thank you in advance for your patience as I learn the ropes!
Pax, D.J. Walker, Alpha Carinae
PS: Now if I can just create a decent signature...

Welcome! I'm trying to think if there's any other Californian, but I guess you're the only one. I hope you enjoy NSUK. As of the Signature, go to Profile - Edit Profile - Personal and you'll find there "signature". As of design, I think I'm the least qualified person for that.

My problem wasn't so much finding how to edit the signature, but rather how to make a decent signature. I'll probably just go for straightforward and simple so as to avoid any headaches. Ha! Pax.

Which books do you like to read? I tend to be all over the place, although looking at my profile pic you can probably guess who is at the top of my list. I've been a devotee of The Professor since I was a child and even wrote my thesis about some of his work. Right now, I'm finishing up A Canticle for Leibowitz by Miller. Good read - thought-provoking with a decent mix of deep questions and light-hearted moments. On the fiction side of things, recently I've also read Deacon King Kong by McBride and next will probably read This is How You Lose the Time War by El-Mohtar and Gladstone. On the non-fiction side of things, The Way of a Pilgrim, by Unknown. So yes, I suppose it's a bit difficult to pin me down, but historical fiction, sci-fi, fantasy, spirituality, and science tend to make recurring appearances on my list. Any other book worms in this part of cyberspace?
