Diplomatic Policy Standards of United Kingdom
APPLICATION OF POLICY: The following are general guidelines for HM Government of United Kingdom to conduct diplomatic relations with other regions in NationStates. The relevant authorities of HMG may, at their discretion, waive qualification requirements, include additional benefits, etc., where necessary to promote United Kingdom's regional interests.
ACCEPTING EMBASSY/CONSULATE APPLICATIONS
To qualify, a region must meet the following standards:
-a stable population of at least 50 nations
- no affiliation with any regions/groups which present a security threat to United Kingdom and its foreign policy interests.
- no history of supporting or affiliation with any regions/groups that support a hateful ideology.
- an actively used & maintained regional forums and/or Discord server and/or equivalent.
- a clear intention to engage in communication with United Kingdom, necessitating the dispatch of an ambassador.
STATUS OF DIPLOMATIC MISSION
Regions can establish a standard diplomatic relationship with the United Kingdom, consisting of the request and approval of a diplomatic posting and the stationing of an Ambassador. All regions who have approval for a diplomatic posting are entitled to:
-an Ambassador on United Kingdom's forums and Discord server
- a Consulate subforum on United Kingdom's forums
Treaty Partner: The United Kingdom will seek to hold formal treaty relations with allies who share the same values of the United Kingdom and hold a prospect for cooperation over multiple areas. Regions who hold treaty relations with the United Kingdom shall be entitled to:
- an Ambassador on United Kingdom's forums and Discord server
- an Embassy subforum on United Kingdom's forums
- an In-Game Embassy
- United Kingdom will maintain an embassy/consulate of its own & regularly distribute our foreign update
- United Kingdom will dispatch an ambassador of our own to maintain a presence on the region's forums and/or Discord server
TERMINATING CONSULATES/EMBASSIES
Understanding the constraints and difficulties that sometimes arise in conducting diplomatic affairs, United Kingdom will tolerate temporary inactivity within consulates or embassies on our forums, but not prolonged inactivity. If a consulate has been inactive for a period greater than 90 days, HM Government will act to close the consulate, and will provide both a fair advance warning and prompt notification of closure as necessary. Foreign Ambassadors will likewise lose their masking as such on United Kingdom's forums/Discord server following a period of greater than 90 days of inactivity. The United Kingdom expect embassies to meet the same level of activity and will engage with treaty allies in a constructive manner in relation to inactivity of embassies.
